BIN LIGHTS, 2002-2003

‘Bin Lights’ was included in:
Claremorris open exhibition 2002 curated by Iwona Blazwick

Nicholas Keogh’s Bin conversions started with ‘Bin Lights’ 2002. The bin contained a clinically white interior which reflected 1400 watts of concealed horticultural lighting. The interior could be seen through port holes on each side of the bin. The bin appeared to contain no workings or surfaces only pure light. Witnessing this bin in a dirty alleyway was strangely relaxing and almost spiritual. The bin vibrated with electricity and the sound of the fans that prevented the bin from catching fire sounded otherworldly.

‘Bin Lights’ would not have been possible without the support of the Lawrence Street Workshops Belfast.
